CHS ~ Class of 1961
50th Year Reunion
Hello Everyone,
The 50th Reunion Committee has continued to meet to plan our reunion. The following classmates are on the
committee: Susan (Callahan) Marathas, Herb Peterson, Gloria Gilson, Phil Lund, Sugar (Goldberg) Keith,
Maryann (Zaniboni) Twomey, Nancy (DeWitt) Walent, Alan Devine, Jim Boushell, Bobbie (Weir) Boushell
Toby (Ulman) Grandberg, Bill (Kirby) Waas and me. If anyone else would like to join us, please let me know.
Plans for the reunion are moving forward:
- The reunion will be held on October 28, 29, and 30 in 2011.
- We have booked the Hilton hotel in Dedham as the home base for the event and will have rooms available as
needed. The current price of rooms is $114 per night.
- We will begin with an informal reception on Friday Evening beginning at 7.
- On Saturday we will have a bus tour of the town from 10 to 1 and a student led tour of Canton High School from 1 to 2.
- In the evening on Saturday we will conduct a reception from 6 to 7 and a reunion celebration at 7 at the hotel.
We have engaged Sue from Enthrall Enterprises DJ service to provide music for the evening.
- On Sunday, we will have a breakfast/brunch get together at the hotel.
In collaboration with the high school audio visual department we will be creating a video that will highlight our class,
our senior year and recognize all members of our class. In addition, we will be producing a series of panel discussions
with members of the class of 2011 on several topics that will compare and contrast the classes of 1961 and 2011.
DVD’s of these productions will be available to all classmates.
The cost for the weekend will be $75 and will include all activities during the weekend. We have established a budget
for the event and have opened a bank account. Gloria Gilson is managing the account. Fifty eight classmates/spouses
have already signed up for the weekend. Please make your reservation by sending $75 per attendee to Gloria at
5 Birchcroft Rd Canton, MA 02021.
We are seeking sponsorships to keep the price reasonable. Platinum sponsorships are available at $1000, Gold at $500
and Silver at $250 and Bronze at $100. Sponsors will be recognized at all events. Your class mates have already
contributed $3000 in sponsorships for the weekend.
We will also be asking you to provide some information to be included in a program booklet for all classmates.
If you have any photos, news articles or memorabilia that you would like to share with your classmates, please
forward electronic copies to me. If anyone has any additional ideas, please contact me or one of the other members
of the committee.
So far, we have contact information on 135 members of our class of 143. I have created an e-mail listing to
communicate with the people who have e-mail. Below is a listing of the classmates for whom we have not been
able to obtain contact information. We would appreciate any assistance that you can provide in helping to
locate these classmates.

I appreciate all of the efforts of the many people who have helped out so far. I think we are off to a good start
and look forward to seeing everyone again.
I would also like to thank the Canton Alumni Association for their support and urge each of you to join if you have
not already done so. Information about the alumni association and our class can be found at this website.
The Alumni Association will be having a Pasta Social on January 22nd at the Canton Town Club. Our class will have
a table at the event. Please plan to attend and renew acquaintances with your classmates. More information is
